2018 Annual Report – Arkansas families

March 28, 2019

It was a fruitful year in 2018 for Arkansas Baptist Children’s Homes and Family Ministries in our mission to build, strengthen, and restore Arkansas families. annual report 2019

We were able to provide safe and loving Christian homes for more than 275 Arkansas children. Because of our Family Care program, nearly 60 of these children were able to stay with or be reunified with their mothers in one of our family care homes.

The Connected foster care program made it possible for more than 75 of the children to stay close to the area they know as home, offering our church partners the opportunity to have a long-term impact on the children as well as their biological families.

Through the family-style homes on campuses in Monticello, Harrison, Judsonia, Paragould, and West Fork, we were able to provide a safe and stable home environment for 140 children facing crisis.

In addition, we were able to impact Arkansas families through the 2,200+ counseling sessions provided by our professional Christian counselors around the state. Nearly 500 of these meetings were for the purpose of strengthening and supporting Arkansas Baptist pastors and their families.

Finally, in December, I started out on a mission as executive director, following David Perry who faithfully served our agency for 40 years. Thank you David for your faithful leadership of Arkansas Baptist Children’s Homes and Family Ministries. The sacrifices you have made to sustain the influence of this ministry are countless. You have been a great example of maintaining focus, even in the face of adversity.

You always found a way to “let the little children come to Jesus” and you never stopped in your own pursuit of Him.

I am excited to work with our great staff to impact Arkansas families. When I think about each one of our staff members, I know God is up to something big. Pray with me that God will use our agency in a mighty way to strengthen, restore, or become the loving family that children in Arkansas need to be equipped for success!

We are looking forward to experiencing God’s faithfulness to Arkansas families in 2019, our 125th year of ministry.

Let’s pray for God to move mountains for Arkansas families in 2019!

On behalf of our children,

Derek Brown, Ph.D.
