A Mother’s Poem

One of our moms loves to write, but with the hectic schedules and juggling life as a single mom, it has been difficult to find the time to do some of the things she loves and enjoy the most. In an effort to grow and practice self-care, this mom decided to give us a glimpse of the reality of what our single mothers go through on a daily basis, by expressing herself in this beautiful poetic way. The moms that live in our Desired Haven Family Care homes are heroes, doing everything they can to overcome the hardships of life by the hand of the one who truly cares and carries our burdens: Jesus!

“Whispered prayers dance on God's eardrums like pained knees to floorboards, begging his presence to watch over the child he gifted to us for a little while.

A mother's love cannot be explained, only felt through the shared experience of being one.

Little fingers and little toes are already making their way in the world, however they come into our lives by womb, relation, choice, and life.

Heavy is the heart that loves a child.

To watch them come and then help prepare them to leave.

Make a difference in the world child...what kind of wonderful will you be?

This is too much Lord! The burden is too heavy to carry alone. Peace be still in my heart, let faith overshadow fear, and allow me to humbly cast my cares on you.

The fight of the mother, Lord, is a constant battle to face. When life knocks you out the ring, or you trip before even starting the race.

Give me endurance Jesus, help me not to compare my pace.

"For I can do all things through Christ!" You are my comforter and friend. I know I can come to you when I am lost or have sinned. Your chances are many, your grace is sufficient. Stay with me, Oh Lord, until the very end!”
